Translating to “true” and nestled in the heart of Brookhaven with sister restaurants HAVEN & Valenza, Vero offers Atlanta an opportunity to enjoy the tastes of Napoli and the Campania region of Italy in a casual environment.

An authentic Napolitano pizzeria, Vero is the direct result of a family vacation in the Campania region of Italy. On that trip, we fell in love with this style of pizza, and knew we had to bring it home to share.


Featuring unique architectural pieces, weathered wood finishes and custom lighting that have become a Word Of Mouth signature, the interior design is a blend of finishes and appointments that highlight the theatre and joy of pizza making.

The signature custom temperature controlled dough room is visible to guests, who are able to see not only the pizza dough being made by hand, but as well the pastas for sister restaurant, Valenza.

The star of the show is our Acunto pizza oven, cast from clay from Mount Vesuvius’ volcanic rock and weighing over 3 tons. Custom-made specifically for Vero Pizzeria, and so hot that pies are cooked in about two minutes, this oven brings the true napoletana tradition for pizza to Brookhaven.

Meet Matt, Executive Chef

Known for his creativity in the kitchen, Matt Swickerath has earned a reputation for pairing fresh, seasonal ingredients with culinary excellence.

Matt’s passion for cooking began after he completed his degree in English from the University of Florida, by landing his first job at a Disney Resort in Buena Vista.

After spending nine years in the restaurant industry in his home state of Florida, Matt moved to Atlanta in 1996, and quickly became known for his innovative dishes using creative and non-traditional ingredients to please Atlanta’s most distinguished dining crowd.

Matt worked for some of the most acclaimed and award-winning restaurants in Atlanta before taking the executive chef position at Valenza Restaurant in the fall of 2007. Matt’s hard work and dedication have been instrumental in Valenza’s success and he was named Partner in 2014.

Chef Matt’s passion and drive for cooking is defined by his attention to detail and his use of primarily locally-grown and organic foods that come with each new season.

Our Menu

Featuring six to eight pies topped with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, and numerous small plates including roasted seasonal vegetables, charcuterie and several salads to accompany the main course, the menu created by Chef Matt Swickerath embodies the culinary philosophy that holds true with all Word of Mouth Restaurants. Guests have the option to dine-in, take out or pre-order for curb-side pickup.
